A year ago Brendan and I arrived in London, in the midst of a tube strike with a suitcase each and no idea what we were doing. We had no job, no apartment; just some wonderful friends who helped us out for the first couple of weeks until we found our feet. It’s been quite a journey – we found a room in a share house, which ended up being one of the worst experiences of my life, then found the amazing studio apartment we live in now. We both found jobs we enjoy, we’ve made new friends, and somehow accumulated enough stuff to fill a lot more than one suitcase each! We’ve had ups and downs but it’s been a fantastic experience so far, through four seasons of life in London:
Thanks for sharing this year with me – hopefully the next year in London will be even better than this one!
Aw! What a lovely post! How lucky to have good friends to help you out. Living in a shared house is a bit hit and miss. I too moved to London a year ago and had similar experiences. My first set of housemates had the police around constantly, the second did drugs openly, and I’m now with the third – so far so good, so fingers crossed!
Glad you have found somewhere good and just for the two of you. And we defo need to meet up for a coffee sometime when you are free! x
Yay! Thank god you came here. Loved meeting you (again) yesterday and cant wait to see you and Sarah on Friday :)
This is such a lovely post, it makes you think how fast time goes by!
Thank you for the comment on my blog, I am so glad you had a good time and hope to meet you at the next one! x
Happy anniversary! And what great year it has been for the two of you. Looking forward to sharing some of your experiences after another 17 sleeps (not counting any naps at home or at work in between)
What a lovely year in London! So crazy that you guys just packed up and moved; what an adventure!
We were in London this time last year, too! Perhaps we bumped into each other + didn’t even know it.
xx. Julia
What a great year! Here is to many more.
