If you follow me on social media, you’ll have seen a sudden flurry of Budapest-themed photos in your feed last week. Monica (aka The Travel Hack) and I spent four days exploring Hungary’s capital city, and now we can’t wait to share our best tips and recommendations for a memorable city break in Budapest.
I’ll let you know where you can find our blog posts once they’re live, but for now, you can check out my 10 essential tips for visiting Budapest and the amazing hotel I stayed at when I visited a few years ago.
As well as searching high and low for fun things to try, Monica and I spent some time working on our photography (who knew that a picture of breakfast in bed could take like, half an hour to perfect?), capturing some of our travel outfits (note to self: next time, pack something more interesting than black jeans and jumpers) and brainstorming blog ideas while we relaxed in various spas around the city (research is tough, you know).
No word of a lie; this photo took a full thirty minutes to perfect.
It felt like a bit of a retreat, and I’ve come back refreshed and inspired to keep improving and expanding my blog this year. For all my fellow bloggers reading this, I can’t emphasise enough how important building friendships with other bloggers is.
I never used to understand that, but now I treasure the conversations I can have with people who just get it.
Also, it’s nice to go out with someone and not feel guilty for making them wait fifteen minutes while you capture the perfect photo of their meal.
For loads of reasons, this was a truly incredible trip, and I can’t wait to share some highlights with you soon.
But for now, here are some sneak peeks and behind the scenes photos of our trip to Budapest, including some fantastic shots that were taken by our talented Flytographer photographer.
By the way – I can’t recommend Flytographer highly enough if you want to capture your holiday in a more spectacular way than just a few phone selfies. To save $25 off your own fun photo shoot on your next holiday, use the code #FLYFAN when you book here.
This, right here, is commitment to blogging. It was below freezing, and before seven o’clock in the morning. I rewarded myself with plenty of coffee, don’t worry.
I’m wearing a Primark black jumper, MAC Verve lipstick, an Accessorize beanie (similar to this one) and an Amethyst Geode necklace c/o UncommonGoods. I love the jewellery selection on UncommonGoods (check out my favourite mixed metals jewellery here and cuff bracelets here – I could shop all day!), and I’m a huge fan of the way they do business – sustainably, ethically, and with social responsibility at the heart of it all.
And the best news? They now ship to the UK! Get shopping, folks.
Thanks for this round up Lauren! I’m headed there this weekend and would love your foodie tips – already jotted down the few you’ve suggested in your posts that you’ve linked it!
Thanks Shikha, I hope you had the best time! Can’t wait to read about it :-)
It’s been ages since I was in Budapest but your pics brought it all flooding back. How cool to do a Flytographer shoot – their pics are so good. Love the one of the two of you :)
Thanks Suzanne! We had so much fun on the shoot – I highly recommend it for really memorable holiday shots!
Budapest is amazing! I was just there a couple months ago and loved it!
It is gorgeous, isn’t it?! :-)
Beautiful photos! I’ve loved all your tips on Facebook and Instagram – can’t wait to hear more about the cat cafe ;) ;) xx
Oh, I will be writing my post with you specifically in mind, so the Cat Cafe will be featured for sure!
I must admit I never really considered going to Budapest, but I’ve been reading so much about the place lately that I’m actually thinking of spending a few days there.
Breakfast looks lovely – and is that an outdoor spa?
Honestly, I can’t recommend it highly enough, Daniela.
It’s cheap and beautiful, the locals are friendly and the food is epic. And yes, they have thermal outdoor baths. SO many reasons to visit!
I’d love to go to Budapest, I can’t wait to read more about your trip!
Oh, Angie – you must go! You’d LOVE it!
Such a lovely blog post! I also visited Budapest earlier this month for my 21st birthday. I’m a new Lifestyle and Travel blogger, so would love for you to check out my blog and give me some feedback.
Thanks Anastazja! Happy 21st, by the way ;-)
Your blog is lovely – just keep at it, it’s so rewarding!
